La Grange Remote Community School is situated in the Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community in the Kimberley region on Karajarri country south of Broome and north of Port Hedland. They were keen to develop a strong, dynamic, consistent image to assist with raising profile, sharing achievements and encouraging support and engagement with the school.
The emu holds a significant place in the culture of the peoples of the region and therefore a representation of an adult and young emu is at the centre of the brand. The emu chick stands under the body of the adult signifying the guidance and protection offered by the school to its students.
The adult emu is strong and bold representing the strength of the community with five vibrant colours making up its body to reflect the five language groups within the community. The bold slashes of colour also represent colours of the region, from desert to sea.
Due to distance and location of the school, Gumption completed this entire project remotely and the results were well-received by both the school administration and the wider community.
